How Villa Aspen made housekeeping verify itself.

A 17-room mountain property near the Jasná ski resort piloted Hotel IQ for four days — and now runs it on every cleaning. Here is what the deployment revealed.

Hotel IQ · Villa Aspen, Demänovská Dolina · Live since May 2026

Villa Aspen is a mountain property in Demänovská Dolina, in the heart of Slovakia's Low Tatras — a short walk from the Jasná ski resort. It has seventeen separate rooms to turn over between stays.

Like every accommodation provider, Villa Aspen runs on housekeeping. And like almost every one, it ran on paper.

The challenge: housekeeping you can't see

A room either gets cleaned properly or it doesn't — but a manager rarely sees the work itself. They see a checklist, ticked. They see the room, later. Between the two is a gap built on trust and spot-checks.

For a property with seventeen rooms, that gap is expensive. A missed bathroom, a skipped vacuum pass, or simply not knowing how long a turnover really takes makes staffing and quality impossible to manage with confidence.

Deploying Hotel IQ

Villa Aspen deployed Hotel IQ — AiCarpus's Motion IQ technology tuned specifically for hotel housekeeping.

The setup is deliberately light. Each housekeeper wears a smartwatch. Every room gets a small Bluetooth beacon. Nothing else changes about how the team works.

As a housekeeper enters a room, the beacon identifies it. As they clean, the smartwatch's motion sensors feed Motion IQ, which recognises the activity. No phone, no app to open, no checklist to tick. The deployment began as a four-day pilot, with the system recording every cleaning shift across all seventeen rooms.

What the data showed

By the end of the pilot, four ordinary housekeeping days had become structured data — captured second by second, with no effort from the team.

  • Seventeen rooms, each identified automatically by its Bluetooth beacon
  • Bluetooth beacons opened 97% of all cleaning sessions on their own — the system almost always knew the room before any motion was analysed
  • Ten distinct work activities recognised — from scrubbing and changing sheets to vacuuming, mopping and window cleaning
  • Six cleaning phases tracked per room — pre-spray, changing sheets, bathroom, vacuum, dusting and windows
  • Every shift captured at one-second resolution — fine enough to reconstruct exactly when each room and phase was worked

"Four ordinary housekeeping days became a complete, automatic record — every room, every phase, captured without a single tap."

Phase by phase, room by room

Hotel IQ didn't just confirm that a room was entered. It followed the full turnover.

The data revealed the housekeeper's real rhythm: a quick pre-spray pass through the bathrooms so cleaning solution could soak; a linen pass changing sheets across every room; a full bathroom-cleaning pass — the longest dwell of the day; and finally vacuuming and dust-wiping. On one day, the routine extended to window cleaning across the property.

Because every phase is tracked per room, Hotel IQ can answer the question that actually matters: did each room get each phase done? A skipped bathroom or a missing vacuum pass no longer hides inside a ticked checklist.

More than cleaning: effort and movement

The same smartwatch that recognises cleaning also measures the shift itself. Hotel IQ tracked steps, body load and work tempo across each day — and flagged fatigue drift when it appeared.

Indoor positioning reconstructed how the housekeeper moved through the apartments and between floors, turning a day of work into a clear map of where time was spent. For Villa Aspen, housekeeping was no longer a black box — it became a measurable, manageable operation.

Privacy by design

Hotel IQ measures cleaning work, not people. There are no cameras and no microphones. Location is used only to identify which room is being cleaned — never to track a person outside the work.

Every report ships with a GDPR mode that strips anything sensitive. The deployment stayed firmly inside European data-protection norms — and that is exactly why staff accept the technology: it removes their paperwork instead of watching them.

"Instead of asking housekeepers to report their work, Hotel IQ simply watches how they move — and lets the cleaning record itself."

From pilot to everyday operation

The four-day pilot answered the only question that mattered: does it work in a real property, with real housekeepers, with no change to how they clean? It did.

So Hotel IQ stayed. Today it runs continuously at Villa Aspen — not as a test, but as part of everyday operation. Every room cleaning, on every shift, is detected and verified automatically.

Every cleaned room confirms itself. Every phase is verified. Every shift becomes a clear report — top insights, per-room detail, a phase-coverage matrix, a cleaning timeline and effort metrics — generated automatically, day after day.

It is the same promise Hotel IQ makes to any hotel or apartment property: let housekeepers clean, and let the work record itself.
